Find your state legislators - Voice your support for the trans community!

ACLU of Virginia  (American CIvil Liberties Union) - lobbies officials at both state and  local levels, provides legal representation and defends civil rights.


Tidewater IWW - Hosts bi-monthly letter-writing groups to reach out to incarcerated individuals. Sign up for a trans/gender non-conforming penpal at BlackAndPink.org and the group will show you how to write to them!

Transitioning our Shelters (PDF) is a comprehensive document that can help you correctly advocate/educate local shelters, and help  influence change in homeless shelter policies to protect the rights,  privacy, and safety of all transgender/gender non-conforming  individuals.

Visit an archive of transgender historical records and share your own! The Digital Transgender Archive -  "provid[es] an online hub for digitized historical materials,  born-digital materials, and information on archival holdings throughout  the world" in order to "foster education and dialog concerning trans  history".

Writing about a transgender individual or something related to the trans community? Want to publish? Check out the GLAAD Transgender Media Reference Guide for a  quick guide for the media and those in journalism which describes terms  used in the transgender community.
